Welcome to Roxbury Valley Trap Club, known for its winter trap league, chicken bbqs, family atmosphere and as a friendly place for new shooters. Facilities are open to the public on Sundays (except holiday Sundays and the members-only Fun Day in September).
Every Sunday, open trap (and winter league) shooting starts at 9 a.m. and generally ends early afternoon. Breakfast is served between 7:30-10:30 a.m. We have one trap house, so squads are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
Three merchandise shoots/chicken bbqs are held each year. The usual chicken shoot procedures are followed in our merchandise shoots, and we manage to work in occasional backups (hunt-n-cover) and a few Annie Oakleys. Chicken dinners are served from 11:30 a.m. until sold out; take-outs are available.
Roxbury offers two winter trap leagues. Early league starts the first Sunday in December, lasting eight weeks. Following a one-week break/makeup, the second-half winter league runs the next eight weeks, ending in early April.
Teams are created by matching shooters' performances over three weeks such that all teams have identical scores to build on over the remaining five weeks. Individual and team awards are made for each half of the league, and overall high-guns are recognized for men, women and juniors.
Open shooting is offered every Sunday except during scheduled special events.
Scheduled in mid-September, a club championship, 50-bird event and special auction is open to members only.
A Hunter Safety event is normally scheduled mid-summer. Contact us for more information.
The club began as an unused go-cart course in the early 70s with five shooters, a Coleman stove to cook bacon and eggs, and a hand trap to throw birds. RVTC has continually held Sunday open shooting and league trap since it was incorporated in 1975.
